Post Converter – Weld on – Round – 38.1mm

The 38.1mm Round Weld-On Post Converter provides a permanently welded mounting plate for the top of 38.1mm round stainless steel posts, allowing them to accept a wooden or custom handrail in place of a standard stainless steel top rail. It has no inner stem — the flat plate is welded directly to the top of the post by the installer, creating a solid, integrated fixing point that is as strong as the post itself.

This converter suits fully welded 38.1mm post assemblies where the permanence and structural integrity of a welded joint is preferred over a press-fit solution. Once welded and finished, the flat mounting plate provides a secure, stable surface for attaching a timber, composite, or custom handrail profile directly above the post.

Available in Grade 304 brushed satin for inland environments and Grade 316 mirror polish for coastal and outdoor applications. Post-weld finishing is the responsibility of the installer.

Which Grade Should I Choose?

Grade 304 is strong and reliable, suited to internal applications and external use in non-coastal, non-corrosive environments — ideal for inland areas such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, and most non-coastal suburbs.

Grade 316 (Marine Grade) offers superior corrosion resistance and is the essential choice for coastal properties, poolside installations, and any environment exposed to salt air, moisture, or chemicals. If you are in Cape Town, the Winelands, Durban, or any coastal area, Grade 316 is strongly recommended.
