The 50.8mm Round Slotted Adjustable Bend Vertical is the essential transition fitting for staircase applications, allowing a 50.8mm round slotted top rail to follow the rake of a staircase from a flat landing run. The hinge pivots on a vertical axis — up and down on an upright plane — adjusting freely to match the exact pitch of your staircase before the tube ends are inserted and the fitting settles into position.

Without this fitting, transitioning a slotted top rail from horizontal to raking would require precise cutting and welding on site. The adjustable vertical bend eliminates both, making what would otherwise be one of the most technically demanding parts of a DIY staircase balustrade installation straightforward and achievable without specialist skills.

The glass slot terminates at the fitting on both sides — on staircase applications, glass panels are typically installed in the raking run below the fitting and the flat landing run above it independently.

Which Grade Should I Choose?

Grade 304 is strong and reliable, suited to internal applications and external use in non-coastal, non-corrosive environments — ideal for inland areas such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, and most non-coastal suburbs.

Grade 316 (Marine Grade) offers superior corrosion resistance and is the essential choice for coastal properties, poolside installations, and any environment exposed to salt air, moisture, or chemicals. If you are in Cape Town, the Winelands, Durban, or any coastal area, Grade 316 is strongly recommended.

Installation Note

Always match your fitting grade and finish to your slotted tubing for a consistent, professional result. When fitting against glass panels, use neutral-cure silicone or clear rubber gaskets — avoid acetoxy (acid-cure) silicone as it can stain stainless steel.
