Ready Made Stanchion – Round – Cable – No Weld – 40 x 40mm

The 40 x 40mm Square Cable Stanchion brings a bold, geometric profile to cable balustrade systems. Pre-drilled and ready to install at 900mm height, it offers the same hassle-free bolt-down installation as the round stanchions but with the clean, angular lines of a square post — creating a distinctly modern, architectural aesthetic.

Square posts suit contemporary homes particularly well, where the crisp equal-sided geometry of the post pairs naturally with horizontal cable runs and flat-top or square-profile top rails. The visual contrast between the strong post and the fine cables creates a striking, minimal look that reads as professionally designed.

As with all Ready Made Stanchions, the pack includes the base plate and cover plate for a clean finish at floor level, and a saddle bracket for your top rail. Cables, top rail tubing, fixing hardware, and end caps are all sold separately.

Which Grade Should I Choose?

Grade 304 is strong and reliable, suited to internal applications and external use in non-coastal, non-corrosive environments — ideal for inland areas such as Johannesburg, Pretoria, and most non-coastal suburbs.

Grade 316 (Marine Grade) offers superior corrosion resistance and is the essential choice for coastal properties, poolside installations, and any environment exposed to salt air, moisture, or chemicals. If you are in Cape Town, the Winelands, Durban, or any coastal area, Grade 316 is strongly recommended.
