Not every balustrade project fits a standard post. Staircases that rake at unusual angles, balconies with non-standard heights, corner configurations that require left- or right-hand orientation, or simply a design that demands something beyond the ready-made range — this is where our custom stanchion service comes in.

With over 15 years of experience manufacturing and supplying stainless steel balustrade components, our Cape Town workshop can produce stanchions to virtually any specification. Whether you are a DIY homeowner with a precise vision or a contractor with a complex set of drawings, we manufacture each post to your exact requirements and deliver it ready to install.

All custom stanchions are bolt-down to the ground — no on-site welding to the floor or structure is required.

What Can Be Customised?

Post Profile

Choose from four post profiles to match your project design and any existing tubing or fittings:

  • Round 38.1mm
  • Round 50.8mm

Custom stanchions are manufactured to any height you require — simply specify your required post height when submitting your enquiry.

We manufacture 13 post configurations to suit every position in your balustrade run:

  • Corner Post — Degree Up to Straight: For corner positions where a raking section transitions back to a flat run. Available in Left Hand and Right Hand.

  • End Post — Down at Degree: For end/termination positions where the balustrade runs at a raking angle, post angled downward.
  • Centre Post — Straight to Degree Up: For mid-run positions transitioning from flat to raking. Standard orientation.
  • Centre Post — Straight to Degree Down: For mid-run positions transitioning from flat to raking downward. Standard orientation.
  • Centre Post — Through at Degree: For mid-run positions on a continuous raking section, post passes straight through at the required angle.

  • Corner Post — Straight: For standard 90° corner positions on a flat run.
