The 4mm 1×19 Stainless Steel Cable is the infill cable used in stainless steel cable balustrade systems, sold per metre so you order exactly the length your project requires. The 1×19 construction means the cable is made from 19 individual strands compressed into a single, rigid core — producing a cable with very little flexibility that holds a straight, taut line between posts with minimal sag or movement.

This rigidity is what makes 1×19 construction the correct choice for horizontal cable balustrade runs. A more flexible cable construction would allow the cable to sag and bow between posts under its own weight and wind load — visually unsatisfactory and structurally insufficient. The 1×19 cable stays straight and taut between fixing points, maintaining the clean, parallel lines that define a well-executed cable balustrade installation.

When calculating your required cable length, measure the full run from tensioner to stopper at each cable level, and add a minimum of 150mm per end for the swage fitting and tensioner thread engagement.
